Contrary to what the Roman Catholic Church said, people now had a personal choice in what they believed. They were encouraged to think for themselves. The Reformation opened up the door for scientists to start experimenting and figuring things out for themselves. During this time scientists no longer blindly followed the church. People could finally move on from Aristotle’s theory on the atom and start looking into other theories. This eventually led them to major discoveries.
