Coulomb is best known for formulating Coulomb’s Law, which states that the electrical force between two charged objects is directly proportional to the product of the quantity of charge on the objects and inversely proportional to the square of the separation distance between the two objects. This basically means that as distance increases, the forces and electric fields decrease. Coulomb’s Law is displayed in all atomic reactions.

Coulombs' LawThe closer an object is to another, the stronger the force between them.
